How To Keep Track Of An Ongoing Conversation
by Ted Gulas

Many emails that you send and receive are continuing 'conversations'. That is, you send an email to a colleague who replies to you and copies two more people who also reply to you. In no time at all you may be trying to keep track of a dozen or more e-mails on a topic and this can be difficult to handle. Here's a simple solution to the problem. As long as all the messages share the same Subject: then gathering them together is simple.

Here's how:

  1. Open your Inbox and click on any of the messages you wish to group.
  2. Now select View, Current View, By Conversation Topic from the tool bar.
  3. All of the emails that you have received that share the same Subject: can be accessed by clicking on the plus (+) sign on the left side of the screen.
  4. In order to help you clean up your inbox and empty it each day, all you need do is highlight all the messages in the thread, right click on the conversation group, and drag to the appropriate folder for filing. ALL of the messages can be moved to the folder and removed from your inbox in one simple step. The entire thread will now be grouped under one header and you will be back in control.
