How to Schedule E-Mail Responses in Your Outlook Calendar or as Tasks
by Ted Gulas

If you receive an E-Mail message in Outlook and you don~t have time to respond to it immediately, you can easily add it to your Calendar or Tasks and schedule a block of time when you will be able to reply.

To turn an E-Mail message into an item on your Calendar or Task:

  1. Drag the message from you Inbox onto the Calendar/Task Icon on the Outlook Bar or onto your Calendar/Task folder. This will create a new Appointment/Task item.
  2. Enter the date and time you want to reply and specify any additional options you want. (The body of the E-Mail message is automatically added to the Appointment.)
  3. Click Save and Close to add the Appointment to your Calendar/Task. Outlook will automatically notify you when it is time to respond to the E-Mail. Note: You can drag items between all Outlook folders: Inbox, Tasks, Calendar, Contacts, Notes and etc. For more options, right-click before you drag.
